Although I agree about the issue of women wanting explicit sexual images, I find this book to be exceedingly tongue-in-cheek - is it possible that it's taking that stereotype of women not being interested in sex and blowing it up to a ridiculous extreme for the sake of humor?

I find it to be very telling of the incredible power difference in terms of the modern family that having a non-hostile partner is supposed to arousing. If things were equal in terms of domestic jobs, it would be just normal rather than totally extraordinary and "arousing" for a man to *gasp* do some chores. This just proves that now even though women are expected to equally contribute financially and hold a job, they're still expected to do all domestic chores and childcare. This is flat-out insulting to women and feminists everywhere.
