“Godhatesfags.com” T-Shirts for the kiddies

god_hates_fags.jpg

In case you weren’t aware, godhatesfags.com is a website run by Fred Phelps, leader of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. They’re the ones who have anti-gay protests around the U.S., including at some points showing up at the funerals of gay men, and have moved on to a general “God hates America” theme, due to all our depravity. He makes Jeremiah Wright (Obama’s pastor) look like a teddy bear–at least he was just saying God ought to damn America.

These t-shirts depress me more than anything I have seen in a really long time.

A completely unrelated Kansas story: When I was living there, in a small town, I discovered that my vet was the head of the Board of Education and was leading the anti-evolution efforts at the time (this was before voters elected a new Board and got rid of a lot of the anti-evolution people).

Anyway, thanks to Larry H. from The Daily Mirror for this photo (found here). I guess.

The most disturbing footage I’ve seen of Phelps (who was a civil rights lawyer, by the way) is from the episode of 30 Days “Straight Man in a Gay World” and documents the involvement of his entire family (including hoards of young grandchildren) in his “cause.” It’s a great episode to show in various sociology classes (I use it in inequality).

Speaking of children wearing offensive t-shirts, here’s prussian blue, a white supremacist pop duo http://www.thebadrash.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/prussian-blue.jpg

Look at the children’s eyes. Anyone who has had an unhappy childhood would recognize these girls are going through one.

Let’s hope life gets better for them.

I am absolutely disgusted. We don’t live in the stone ages anymore. Why would you do this to your children. Let your child develop their own mind. If a “fag” saved your life or fought in your war would you still discriminate against them?

This is just 100% revolting. These people should open there eyes and wake up from the nightmare they are having. I feel horrible for those little girls.

in the bible, God says that all people are equal in Christ. (Galatians 3:28-29) and that Christians NEED to get RID of their own hatred. (Colossians 3:8) i dnt understand how these people can call themselves Christians when they make their children wear hateful clothing….its ridiculous.

This is horrible, why would a pastor, of all people, be so hateful. And it’s horrible that they drag their children into it, that is what really bugs me about this. Also, with the fact that my aunts are gay AND christian, this really makes me angry.

There’s only one thing I disagree with on the shirts: God doesn’t hate fags, just the fact that they’re fags!

I am 16 years old, and I believe God loves everyone. Our God is more gracious and loving than we could ever know. If i was God (which I could never be, I could never match up to his graciousness or righteousness) I would love people regardless of who they chose to love. They would be my children, and it wouldnt matter to me, as long as they loved each other through me.
