Daniel F. (of the blog Dangger) sent in a link to this video by FHM (For Him Magazine) illustrating Kamasutra positions using only women to show the sexual positions. There’s no nudity, but I’m pretty sure it’s Not Safe for Work.

Daniel says,

I don’t really know what to say about it but it seems to be telling something about lesbian relations being accepted…among pornography for men or men’s magazines. Maybe it has something to do with the objectification of women or that some ordinary men feel uncomfortable watching other men, specially if they are models. I leave it up to you.

No, Daniel, I think you summed it up pretty well.

Ben O. sent us a link to the dating site Spicy or Sweet’s page for lesbians, which has this illustration:

In that case, I think it really is targeted at lesbians (they also have sites specifically for gay men, for those who are “Latin“, Asians, and the odd “ethnic” categories (all are listed as ethnic) of Christian, and Big Beautiful Women. But the image replicates those you see of girl-on-girl action that is clearly targeted at men, but for all I know, many lesbians respond to the same types of images heterosexual men do, and find them just as appealing as men do, so maybe it’s just a good marketing strategy.

In most cases (though not necessarily that last one, since presumably men would not be checking out the lesbian dating site), the point of such images isn’t to support lesbians or empower women or reduce homophobia; the images are made to appeal to (some) men’s sexual fantasies about having more than one hot woman in bed at the same time. Lesbianism isn’t a threat to male sexual gratification; it’s just a tantalizing precursor to it.

Just as a bonus, here is another image from a Spicy or Sweet page. Ben says it’s for men seeking submissive women, though I didn’t see a banner stating that on the page:

In case a dominant woman is more your style, there’s this page:

One thing I find odd about this site is that aside from the lesbian page (I assume), every page seems to be oriented to attracting men to the site–the only ones that show men are the gay men’s site and these last two images in which the messages seems to be more about what type of women men can find there, rather than trying to appeal to women to sign up. In fact, it looks a lot more like a hook-up site than a dating site to me, but what do I know?

Thanks, Daniel and Ben!
