Every issue we provide a roundup of sociologists, and sociology, in the news. This issue we look at the Iranian government’s hostility to sociology, Pepper Schwartz on cougars gone wild, and how sociologists are explaining suicide in France and collective memories of Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
Authors
Jeremy Minyard received his M.A. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota ('10) and his J.D. from Vanderbilt ('05). He currently teaches sociology at Anoka-Ramsey Community College and is a member of the Contexts graduate student editorial board.
Tim Ortyl is a Ph.D. student in the sociology department at the University of Minnesota and a member of the Contexts graduate student editorial board. He studies sexuality, gender, and nontraditional families in contemporary American society.
